Kneehigh Nursery: Meet The Team
Our staff thrive on nurturing & developing your children
Sarah - Owner

Hello, my name is Sarah. I am the manager and owner of Kneehigh Nursery. I am also Kneehigh’s SENCo (Specific Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
I have been involved in pre-school since 1989 when I first took my son to a mother and toddler group in our local village. I soon realised that I was good at playing with children and supporting them to learn through their play. I became involved in the committee for the pre-school, finding out all about how to run a group for children. I was keen to develop my skills and attended a course in pre-school education and got the job of assistant pre-school leader at our newly created under 5’s group, combining our parent and toddler group and pre-school. By this time I had had another child.
In October 1992 I became the proud owner of Kneehigh Nursery. At that time we were situated in Newquay Sports Centre and only provided sessional care in the mornings and afternoons. Over the next few years pre-school education changed and developed nationally, and I had my third child, Loren, who now works alongside me. Kneehigh has constantly developed it’s practice to remain one of the best in Newquay. Having moved into our own premises in 2003 we now provide full day care for children from 2 years old.
I have been the owner of Kneehigh for almost 30 years now and still find every day different and rewarding. All the children and families have different personalities and interests, which I love to be involved with. I love to hear how well our past students are doing in their lives now, and am proud to feel that I have given them a helping hand to get there. For instance, Daisy Clarke (singer and song writer) and Luke Dillon (world class surfer), as well as those who have gone on to achieve degrees at university in a variety of subjects and so much more.
My other passion is playing hockey for Newquay, which I have done since the age of 15. I play, coach, umpire and have been a committee member for many, many years. I play hockey alongside some of the previous children who attended in Kneehigh in their pre-school years, including our club captain.

I am Kneehigh Nursery’s Deputy Manager and Deputy Safeguarding Lead.

I’m a mother to three children, who aren’t so little anymore and two very furry babies, aka labradoodles. I enjoy walks in the countryside or curled up on a chair reading a book.
I was inspired to become an Early Years practitioner after volunteering in a local primary school, particularly within the Foundation year. I came to realise children face an immeasurable amount of different life experiences. I felt I could have a positive impact on children’s lives by sharing my enjoyment of learning.

Tammy
I am Kneehigh Nursery’s Social, Emotional and Mental Health Lead practitioner. I began working for Kneehigh after my children left the nursery for school.

I live in Newquay with my husband, 4 children, 2 dogs and a lizard. When I am not running my children around to their different sports I enjoy exploring Cornwall with my family and spending time in my garden.
Childcare was always something I wanted to do and being able to do this job in lovely surroundings is a bonus. Watching children grow and learn, as a result of what I have taught them, is the most rewarding part of the job.

Hope
At the beginning of 2020 I decided to volunteer at Kneehigh Nursery after my own children had been attending Kneehigh for several years.

It didn’t take me long to realise just how much I loved the time I spent there and was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to join the team permanently.
I have recently passed my Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification and still love every aspect of the role as much as I did the first day I volunteered. Spending time with the children, discovering their characters and personalities and being part of their growth and development is extremely special.
